I Divine

women in anthologies,

my fingers forked sticks, 

for what lies underneath.

But the few found can 

but use man-made words

and I leave thirsty.

Bio: Carol Smallwood, recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, received a MLS in librarianship from Western Michigan University, MA in teaching from Eastern Michigan University. She’s edited, co-edited several dozen library anthologies for American Library Association, Rowman & Littlefield, McFarland, and others. Smallwood has had over a dozen collections of poetry and essays published; hundreds of stories, essays, interviews, poems, reviews in RHINO, World Literature Today, and others. A multi-Pushcart nominee, the Michigan resident has founded humane societies, and appears in numerous references such as: Contemporary Authors; Wikipedia; Who’s Who in America.
